CINEMATIC VIDEO EDITOR - Short-Form Ads & Social Content (AI-Savvy, Detail-Obsessed)
ABOUT VOURLY
Vourly is a U.S.-based video production company that connects clients with top-tier videographers and delivers cinematic-quality content. We're growing fast and looking for a dedicated video editor to join our team and own the post-production process for short-form ads and social media content.
This is not a generic editing gig. We need someone who treats every cut, transition, and caption like it matters - because it does. Our content drives real revenue for real businesses, and the quality of your edits directly impacts results.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Editing short-form video ads (15-60 seconds) for social media platforms (Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook Ads)
- Creating cinematic-quality edits with strong pacing, color grading, motion graphics, and sound design
- Writing and syncing captions/subtitles with ZERO errors - spelling, grammar, and timing must be flawless
- Collaborating closely with our team on creative direction, revisions, and feedback
- Turning around edits quickly without sacrificing quality
- Using AI tools (CapCut, Runway, Descript, ChatGPT, or similar) to speed up your workflow and improve output quality
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We want someone who is genuinely passionate about editing - not someone who just applies to every job posting. You should get excited about making a 30-second ad feel like a movie trailer.
MUST-HAVES:
- 2+ years of video editing experience with a strong portfolio (short-form work is a huge plus)
- Proficiency in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, or equivalent professional NLE
- Excellent English - written and verbal. You'll be communicating with our U.S.-based team daily, so clear, professional communication is non-negotiable
- Experience with AI-assisted editing tools and workflows. We don't just want someone who "knows about" AI - we want someone who actively uses it to caption, color grade, generate assets, or enhance their edits
- Obsessive attention to detail, especially with captions and text overlays. If there's a typo in your caption, we'll notice. If there's a timing mismatch, we'll notice. This role requires perfection in text
- Reliable internet connection and ability to handle large video files
NICE-TO-HAVES:
- Motion graphics / animation skills
- Sound design experience
- Understanding of direct-response advertising and what makes an ad convert
- Experience editing for U.S.-based clients or brands
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Rate: $8 - $12 USD/hour (based on experience, with room to grow)
- Hours: Part-time to start (20 hrs/week), with ability to scale to full-time
- Schedule: Flexible, but you must be responsive during overlap hours with U.S. Pacific Time and deliver on agreed deadlines
- Tools Provided: We'll provide access to footage, project files, and any paid AI tools needed

Communication is everything. We use async communication heavily, but when we message you, we expect a thoughtful reply - not a one-word answer. If something is unclear, ask. If you're stuck, speak up. If you disagree with creative direction, tell us why. We want a collaborator, not a yes-machine.
Speed matters, but so does quality. We'd rather you take an extra hour to get it right than rush out something mediocre. That said, if an edit takes you 3x longer than it should, this isn't the right fit.
