Where US Employers Find Remote Talent in 2026: The Philippines Leads

US employers are increasingly looking beyond their domestic talent pools when hiring remote workers, with candidates from the Philippines, South Africa, India and Pakistan among the most active sources of international applications on Online.jobs.

New hiring data from Online.jobs shows that US-based employers received 11,457 applications from candidates in the Philippines, far more than from any other international candidate market. South Africa followed with 1,033 applications, while candidates in India submitted 1,019 and candidates in Pakistan submitted 1,003.

The figures reflect application activity on Online.jobs specifically and should not be interpreted as a measure of the entire US remote hiring market. Within the platform’s data, however, the numbers show how US employers are accessing talent across international markets rather than limiting recruitment to candidates based in the United States.

Roman Bukshak, Head of Growth at Online.jobs, says the figures highlight the increasingly international nature of remote recruitment.

“The latest Online.jobs data shows that US employers are accessing talent well beyond their domestic market. The volume of applications from candidates in the Philippines, South Africa, India and Pakistan demonstrates how remote hiring can connect businesses with professionals across different geographic markets. For employers, this broader reach can create access to larger talent pools and specialized skills, while for candidates, remote work can open opportunities with companies they may never have been able to reach through traditional location-based hiring.”

The analysis is based on international hiring flows recorded on Online.jobs, comparing the employer’s country with the candidate’s country.

Key Points

  • US employers received 11,457 applications from candidates in the Philippines.

  • Candidates in South Africa submitted 1,033 applications to US employers.

  • Candidates in India submitted 1,019 applications.

  • Candidates in Pakistan submitted 1,003 applications.

  • US employers also received 773 applications from Indonesia and 634 from Nigeria.

  • Candidates in Kenya submitted 420 applications, followed by Argentina with 336, Colombia with 317 and Brazil with 264.

  • US employers accounted for 42 live listings across 39 hiring employers on the platform during the measured period.

  • Across the platform, the Philippines had the largest available candidate pool, with 20,544 candidates, followed by India and South Africa, each with 3,750.

The Philippines Leads International Applications

The Philippines stands out as the strongest international source of applications to US employers in the Online.jobs data.

US-based employers received 11,457 applications from candidates in the Philippines, more than ten times the number received from the next-largest international market, South Africa.

The Philippines also had the largest available candidate pool on the platform, with 20,544 available candidates.

The high level of application activity makes the Philippines a notable talent market for employers using remote recruitment. The data also shows that the country is not only a source of candidates for US companies. Employers based in the Philippines, United Kingdom, Australia and other countries also received applications from Filipino candidates, demonstrating the country’s broader role in international remote hiring.

South Africa, India and Pakistan Follow

After the Philippines, three other countries recorded more than 1,000 applications to US employers.

Candidates in South Africa submitted 1,033 applications, while India recorded 1,019 and Pakistan recorded 1,003.

These figures show that US employers are not relying on a single international market when sourcing remote candidates.

The geographic spread also highlights the potential of remote recruitment to connect companies with talent across different regions. Instead of restricting recruitment to candidates within commuting distance of a US office, employers can advertise positions to professionals in markets across Africa, Asia and other parts of the world.

US Employers Are Reaching Talent Across Southeast Asia and Africa

The international hiring flows extend well beyond the four largest markets.

US employers received 773 applications from candidates in Indonesia and 634 from Nigeria. Candidates in Kenya submitted 420 applications, while those in Argentina, Colombia and Brazil submitted 336, 317 and 264 respectively.

The data also records 199 applications from candidates in Egypt.

This wider distribution shows that international remote recruitment on Online.jobs is not limited to a small number of established talent markets. Employers using remote recruitment can potentially reach candidates across a much broader geographic area.

For businesses, this can be particularly valuable when hiring for positions where the required skills are difficult to find in a local market.

Remote Hiring Is Expanding Beyond Geographic Boundaries

Traditional recruitment often limits employers to candidates who live within a reasonable distance of an office or who are willing to relocate.

Remote hiring changes that equation.

The Online.jobs data shows that US employers are attracting applications from candidates across Asia, Africa, North and South America, reflecting the increasingly global nature of remote hiring. That geographic reach gives employers more opportunities to find candidates with the skills they need without requiring those workers to relocate.

Roman Bukshak, Head of Growth at Online.jobs, adds:

“Remote hiring changes the size of the talent pool available to employers. Instead of asking where a candidate lives first, companies can increasingly focus on whether that person has the skills, experience and availability needed for the role. The international application flows in the Online.jobs data show how businesses can use remote recruitment to reach professionals across multiple markets and build teams around capability rather than geography.”

This does not mean international hiring is suitable for every position. Employers still need to consider time zones, employment regulations, payroll, communication and other practical requirements when building distributed teams.

However, the data demonstrates the scale of interest among candidates outside the US when international remote opportunities are available.

The Available Candidate Pool Is Highly International

The broader candidate data from Online.jobs also shows how international the platform’s talent pool has become.

The Philippines had 20,544 available candidates, the largest number among the countries measured. India and South Africa followed with 3,750 candidates each, while Pakistan had 2,433 and Indonesia had 2,090.

Other countries with substantial available candidate pools included Argentina with 1,051 candidates, the United States with 1,050, Nigeria with 998 and Kenya with 608.

A company recruiting remotely can access candidates from dozens of countries instead of limiting its search to a single city, state or national labor market.

What the Data Means for US Employers

For US employers, the international hiring data shows where remote candidates are actively seeking opportunities.

The Philippines stands out by a significant margin, while South Africa, India and Pakistan also show strong application activity. Indonesia, Nigeria and Kenya demonstrate further demand from candidates across international markets.

Employers considering international remote recruitment may benefit from understanding where relevant candidates are already looking for opportunities.

At the same time, international recruitment requires more than simply posting a job globally. Companies need to consider whether their roles can accommodate different time zones, how employment arrangements will be structured and what communication systems are needed to support distributed teams.

The growth of international remote hiring therefore creates both opportunities and practical considerations for HR teams and recruiters.

What This Means for Remote Job Seekers

The data also offers useful insight for professionals seeking remote opportunities with US employers.

Candidates outside the US are already applying for positions offered by American companies, with the strongest application activity coming from the Philippines, South Africa, India and Pakistan.

For job seekers, this suggests that remote work can provide access to employers beyond their domestic labor market.

However, high application volumes also mean that international candidates may face significant competition for popular remote roles. Applicants need to clearly demonstrate their relevant skills, tailor their applications to each position and show employers that they can work effectively as part of a distributed team.

Remote candidates may also benefit from highlighting experience with asynchronous communication, collaboration tools and working across time zones where relevant to the position.

A More Global Remote Workforce Is Emerging

The latest Online.jobs figures point to a remote hiring market that extends well beyond national borders.

US employers received applications from candidates across Asia, Africa and Latin America, with the Philippines emerging as the strongest international source of applications by a substantial margin.

South Africa, India, Pakistan, Indonesia and Nigeria also recorded significant application activity, demonstrating that international remote recruitment is drawing candidates from a wide range of markets.

For employers, the trend highlights the potential value of looking beyond traditional geographic hiring boundaries. For professionals, it shows that remote work can create opportunities to compete for positions with companies in other countries.

Remote hiring is increasingly allowing employers and candidates to connect across borders, rather than being limited by where workers live.

As companies build distributed teams in 2026, Online.jobs data suggests international talent will remain important.
