Hi! I’m Ali, and I’m looking for someone clever, creative and reliable to help me with my podcast and social media content.
I have a podcast called Laughs Without Lager, where I have honest, funny and sometimes pretty raw conversations about sobriety and life without alcohol. I also have my own personal social media brand around sobriety, midlife, real life and the occasional bit of colourful language. 😂
I create a LOT of content. My problem isn't coming up with things to say — it's finding the time to turn all the raw footage into great content.
That's where you come in.
What I need you to do
I need someone who can take my raw podcast recordings and phone videos and turn them into content people actually want to watch.
This could include:
- Editing full podcast episodes
- Finding the best moments in a podcast and turning them into short videos
- Creating Instagram Reels, TikToks and You Tube Shorts
- Adding captions/subtitles
- Creating strong hooks and text for videos
- Editing my casual talking-to-camera/phone footage
- Creating simple Canva graphics and thumbnails when needed
- Repurposing one piece of content into multiple pieces
- Helping organise my content so I don't have videos scattered all over the place!
- Eventually helping with scheduling and publishing
The BIG thing I'm looking for
I don't just want someone who knows how to edit a video.
I want someone who can watch a 45-minute podcast and spot the gold.
I want you to be able to think:
"Yep — THAT 30 seconds will make people stop scrolling."
My content is very personality-driven. It's conversational, honest, funny and sometimes a little sweary.
I don't want generic influencer content, cheesy motivational videos or 47 transitions flying across the screen. 😂
I want it to feel natural and like me.
You will learn my style as we work together, and I'll give you examples of content I like.
What I'm looking for
You should:
- Have proven experience editing short-form video
- Have experience with podcasts, interviews or talking-head content
- Understand Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts
- Have a good eye for finding interesting moments and strong hooks
- Have excellent English comprehension
- Be creative but also organised and reliable
- Be comfortable working independently
- Be happy to receive feedback and adjust your editing style
- Be interested in building a long-term working relationship if we're a good fit
Experience with CapCut, Canva, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar is great.
Hours & pay
I'm looking to start with approximately 5–10 hours per week.
Budget is US$8–10 per hour, depending on experience and the quality of your work.
I'm happy to start small and see how we work together. If you're great at what you do and you make my life easier, there's potential for this to become a longer-term role with more hours.
A little about me
I'm based in Western Australia and I'm building both my personal sobriety brand and Laughs Without Lager.
I've been alcohol-free since 2021 and I'm passionate about showing people that life without alcohol doesn't have to be boring, miserable or wrapped in beige wellness language.
I'm also a ranger, so my life isn't exactly predictable. 😂
I need someone who can work with a busy person who is often out creating content rather than sitting at a desk all day.
You don't need to know everything about sobriety.
But you do need to understand people, personality and social media — and you need to be able to recognise a good story when you see one.
When applying, please tell me:
- A little about yourself
- Your experience with video/podcast editing
- What editing software you use
- Examples of short-form videos you've created
- Examples of podcast or talking-head content you've edited
- Your experience with Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts
- Your hourly rate
- Your usual availability and time zone
Please include actual examples of your work. I want to see what you can do rather than just hear that you're "passionate and hardworking." 😉
I'm looking for someone who wants to become part of what I'm building — not just someone looking for another job to tick off their list.
