About the Role
I run an online education business (business coaching for women + social media content). I am building a fast, consistent content pipeline and I need a skilled video editor who can turn raw footage and a script/storyboard into scroll-stopping short-form reels — and edit longer horizontal YouTube videos.
This is an ongoing, project-based role paid per output, not hourly and not full-time. If your work is strong and reliable, there is steady, repeat work: we publish around 10 reels a month (2–3 per week), plus longer videos.
You will NOT be shooting anything. All footage is already recorded. Your job is editing — you receive the footage, the script, and a storyboard, and you build the final video.
What You'll Edit
- Short-form reels for Instagram and TikTok — dynamic, fast-paced, retention-focused edits (not static talking-head)
- Long-form horizontal videos for YouTube (including a sales/VSL-style video)
- Work from a provided script + storyboard + brief — you follow it closely, then add the polish
Required Skills — Please Read Carefully
You MUST be able to do all of the following. Do not apply if you can't:
- CapCut — this is our primary editing tool; you must be fluent in it
- Dynamic short-form editing — punchy cuts, motion, captions/subtitles, hooks, pattern interrupts, sound design, trending styles that hold attention
- Long-form horizontal editing for YouTube — clean pacing, b-roll, on-screen text, chapters
- Captions/subtitles — accurate, well-timed, styled to match the brand
- Fast turnaround — able to deliver a finished reel quickly without sacrificing quality
- Follow a brief exactly — we work from scripts and storyboards; you edit to match, not freestyle
A plus (not required)
- Motion graphics / simple animation
- Experience editing for coaches, course creators, or personal brands
- Your own library of trending audio / transitions / templates
What I'm Looking For
- A strong portfolio of short-form reels — this matters more than anything you write. I want to see dynamic edits you've made.
- Reliability — you deliver on the agreed deadline, every time
- Attention to detail — captions timed correctly, no typos, clean cuts, brand-consistent
- Good communication — you confirm receipt, ask questions up front, and flag issues early
- Openness to feedback — you take notes and revise without friction
Pay
- Per-reel rate (project-based, paid per finished output) — competitive; the right editor gets steady ongoing volume
- Paid via [Polina to fill in: Wise / PayPal / Payoneer]
- Paid test assignment first — a small paid test (one reel) so we can both confirm it's a fit before ongoing work. You'll also tell us how long the test took you.
How to Apply — Follow These Steps Exactly
Attention to detail is the whole job. Applications that skip a step will not be reviewed.
In the SUBJECT LINE, write: REELS EDITOR — [your best turnaround time for one reel] (example: "REELS EDITOR — 24 hours")
Your application must include:
- Your portfolio — a link (Google Drive, Behance, YouTube, TikTok, or IG) showing at least 2–3 dynamic short-form reels you edited yourself. If you have a long horizontal / YouTube edit, include one too.
- Which editing software you use (confirm CapCut).
- Your per-reel rate.
- Your typical turnaround time for one reel.
- One or two sentences on why you're a fit.
Applications without a portfolio link will not be considered.
