I’m looking for a highly skilled Podcast & Short-Form Video Editor to work on the Live The Dream Podcast and potentially additional business and client content.
This is not a basic CapCut editing role.
I’m looking for someone with strong creative judgement who can take long-form interviews and turn them into premium, polished episodes and genuinely engaging short-form content.
The most important thing for this role is the quality of your editing portfolio.
What You’ll Be Editing
Most content will be:
- 30–60 minute podcast interviews
- Founder/business interviews
- Talking-head content
- Podcast trailers
- Instagram Reels
- TikToks
- YouTube Shorts
- Landscape social clips
- Occasional business or marketing videos
Episodes are generally recorded using Riverside or in a studio.
What I’m Looking For
I want someone who understands much more than simply cutting pauses and adding captions.
You should have a strong sense of:
- Storytelling
- Pacing
- Hooks
- Audience retention
- Emotional beats
- Visual rhythm
- Sound design
- B-roll
- Motion graphics
- Captions
- Punch-ins and reframing
- Music selection
- Clean transitions
- Brand consistency
You should know when to add something — and just as importantly, when not to over-edit.
The finished content should feel modern, premium and professional.
Long-Form Podcast Editing
You’ll be responsible for turning raw podcast recordings into polished finished episodes.
This may include:
- Multicam editing
- Switching between host and guest appropriately
- Removing mistakes and unnecessary pauses
- Tightening pacing
- Cleaning audio
- Balancing audio levels
- Colour correction
- Adding branded elements
- Adding B-roll where appropriate
- Music and sound design where useful
- Creating clean intros/outros
- Exporting final versions in the correct formats
I don’t want a podcast that simply looks like a raw Zoom conversation with cuts.
The final episode should feel intentionally produced.
Short-Form Content
This is a major part of the role.
You should be able to watch a long-form conversation and independently identify the strongest moments.
I don’t want to provide timestamps for every clip.
You should be able to recognise:
- Strong opening hooks
- Powerful stories
- Emotional moments
- Unexpected insights
- Contrarian opinions
- Great business lessons
- Interesting one-liners
- Moments that create curiosity
- Clips that could generate discussion
Then turn those into high-retention 30–90 second videos.
Your short-form edits should demonstrate:
- Strong first 1–3 seconds
- Tight pacing
- Clean captions
- Smart zooms/punch-ins
- B-roll when useful
- Motion graphics when appropriate
- Pattern interrupts
- Good visual composition
- Strong audio
- Correct 9:16 framing
- A clear beginning, middle and end
Editing Style
The style should feel:
- Premium
- Modern
- Clean
- Engaging
- Professional
- Appropriate for entrepreneurs, founders and business audiences
I’m not looking for overly flashy editing just for the sake of it.
The editing should strengthen the story and make the speaker more compelling.
Thumbnail Design — Bonus
If you’re genuinely strong at thumbnail design, that’s a major bonus.
I’d be interested in someone who understands:
- Click-through rate
- Clear visual hierarchy
- Strong expressions
- Simple but powerful text
- Contrast
- Curiosity
- YouTube thumbnail composition
However, please don’t claim thumbnail design as a skill unless your portfolio genuinely demonstrates it.
Tools
You may use whichever professional editing software you prefer, including:
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- After Effects
- DaVinci Resolve
- Final Cut Pro
- CapCut Desktop
Experience with Riverside is useful but not essential.
This Role Does NOT Require You To
You do not need to manage:
- Social media posting
- Community management
- Customer enquiries
- YouTube SEO
- Podcast descriptions
- Uploading/scheduling episodes
- Newsletters
- CRM/admin
Those responsibilities will be handled separately.
Your primary job is:
Make the content look and feel excellent.
What Matters Most
I’m looking for someone who:
- Has excellent creative judgement
- Pays attention to detail
- Understands pacing and storytelling
- Can identify good clips without being spoon-fed timestamps
- Takes feedback well
- Communicates clearly
- Delivers on time
- Is reliable
- Is organised with files and versions
- Wants a long-term working relationship
- Takes genuine pride in the final product
How to Apply
Please start your application with:
“LIVE THE DREAM EDITOR”
Then send me the following:
- Your best long-form interview/podcast edit
- Your 3 best short-form videos
- One thumbnail you personally designed, if thumbnail design is part of your skillset
- What editing software do you use?
- How many years have you been editing professionally?
- Have you edited podcasts/interviews before?
- Do you personally identify clips from long-form footage, or do clients normally give you timestamps?
- Roughly how long would you need to edit:
- one 45-minute podcast
- one trailer
- five short-form clips
- What is your current availability?
- Are you working with other clients?
- What would you charge for:
- a full podcast edit
- one short-form clip
- a package of 1 full podcast + 1 trailer + 5 clips
Important
Please do not send me 20 portfolio links.
Send me the work you believe represents your highest standard.
I will be judging primarily on:
editing quality, storytelling, pacing, visual polish and short-form creativity.
If your work is mainly basic cuts, automatic captions and standard templates, this role probably isn’t the right fit.
I’m looking for someone who can genuinely raise the production quality of the podcast.
Long-Term Opportunity
This is intended to be an ongoing role.
If we work well together, there will be regular podcast episodes and potentially increasing amounts of content as the podcast and business grow.
I’m looking for someone who can become our go-to creative editor long-term, rather than somebody working on a handful of one-off projects.
