J&B Quality Painters is a residential painting company in Edmonton, Canada. We make vertical video every week: before-and-afters, cabinet transformations, crew time-lapses, customer stories and ads that run on Facebook and Instagram. We're doubling our content output and need an editor who can turn raw phone footage into finished, scroll-stopping reels quickly.
Part-time · 20 hours per week, flexible · $6–10 USD/hour, based on test edit and portfolio
What you'll do
- Edit raw clips from our crew into 15–60 second reels (9:16) for ads and organic posts
- Cut a 4:5 version of every ad for the Instagram and Facebook feeds
- Write and place on-screen hooks and captions in the first 2 seconds
- Add burned-in subtitles, music, text and simple motion
- Make variations of winning ads with new hooks and openings
- Organize finished files in Google Drive with clear names
Turnaround (this matters most)
- Standard reel: delivered within 24 hours of receiving footage
- Revisions: within 12 hours
- Reply to messages within 2 hours during your working hours
You're a fit if you:
- Have a portfolio of short-form vertical video: Reels, TikTok or Shorts (send links)
- Edit in CapCut, Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
- Understand hooks, pacing and retention, not just cutting
- Can work from a brief and simple notes without hand-holding
- Have reliable internet and can upload large files
Bonus: experience with home services, renovation, before-and-after or paid-ad creatives.
Our values
- Speed is king. Fast, finished work beats perfect work that's late.
- Own the outcome. If a reel isn't working, you tell us and fix it.
- Competitive greatness. We want editors who want our ads to beat everyone else's.
How to apply
- Start your application with the subject line "REELS 24" so we know you read this.
- Send 3–5 links to short-form videos you edited, and say which one performed best and why.
- Tell us your editing software and your current weekly availability.
Shortlisted applicants get a short paid test edit: raw footage from one of our jobs, finished reel due within 24 hours. That test decides the hire and the starting rate.
