Job Title: Video Editor — Mythology/History YouTube Channel (Long-Form)
About the role
We're growing a YouTube channel focused on mythology storytelling (Greek, Norse, Celtic, Egyptian, and beyond) using narrative-driven long-form videos (10-15 minutes). We're looking for a video editor to take scripts, AI-generated visuals, and voiceover audio and turn them into polished, engaging videos on a consistent schedule.
Responsibilities
- Edit long-form (10-15 min) narrative videos from provided script, ElevenLabs voiceover audio, and AI-generated images
- Animate static images using pans, zooms, parallax, and simple motion effects to create a dynamic, cinematic feel (Ken Burns-style movement at minimum; light After Effects-style animation a plus)
- Sync visuals precisely to voiceover pacing and story beats
- Add sound design: ambient background music, sound effects (thunder, impact, transitions) to match tone
- Add burned-in captions/subtitles
- Color grade for a consistent, moody/epic visual tone across the series
- Deliver a polished, retention-optimized cut with clear pacing (hook, story beats, climax, CTA)
- Incorporate feedback rounds efficiently and hit agreed turnaround times
Requirements
- Proven experience editing narrative/documentary-style or history/mythology YouTube content (please share examples/portfolio)
- Strong command of Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve (After Effects a plus for motion graphics)
- Understanding of YouTube retention pacing — knows how to keep a 10+ minute video from losing viewers in the middle third
- Ability to work from AI-generated stock images and voiceover audio (not live-action footage) — comfortable creating movement/energy from static visuals
- Reliable turnaround — [X] business days per video (specify based on your target cadence)
- Good communication — comfortable taking written notes/feedback and iterating without much hand-holding
Nice to have
- Experience with faceless/narration-driven channels specifically
- Familiarity with mythology/history content (helps with pacing instinct even without deep subject knowledge)
- Basic motion graphics/animation skills for title cards, lower thirds, or simple character movement
