Job Overview

Video Editor + Creative All-Rounder for Fast-Growing E-commerce Company (Long-Term, Remote)

Hi there!

We're a young, fast-moving e-commerce company. We run several brands and product concepts at the same time and sell mainly through paid social (Facebook/Instagram and TikTok) in multiple European markets.

Our model is simple: we test a lot. New products, new angles, new hooks, new formats. Some concepts win, most don't, and we move on quickly either way. That means we need a LOT of creative, fast, and we need someone who enjoys that pace.

We're looking for a video editor who wants to grow with us. Because we've just started, this is not a "just edit and disappear" role. Video editing is the core of the job, but you'll also help with other creative and operational tasks. If you like variety and ownership, and you want to see exactly which of your ads make money, you'll love this.

----------------------------------------

WHAT YOU'LL DO: VIDEO EDITING (approx. 70-80% of your time)

----------------------------------------

- Edit short-form video ads (9:16, 4:5 and 1:1) for Meta and TikTok in formats such as UGC-style, testimonials, product demos, problem/solution, "us vs. them", listicles, founder-style and unboxings

- Create multiple hook variations per ad (the first 3 seconds) so we can test what stops the scroll

- Turn raw footage, stock footage, AI-generated clips and product images into finished, native-looking ads (social-first, not "TV commercial")

- Add captions, on-screen text, sound design, music, b-roll, zooms and pattern interrupts

- Produce language versions of winning ads by swapping subtitles, on-screen text and voiceovers (we provide translated scripts). Languages include English, French, Spanish and Dutch

- Use AI tools for voiceovers, avatars, image/video generation, background removal and upscaling

- Iterate quickly on winners with new hooks, new CTAs, shorter/longer cuts and new formats

- Keep our creative library in Google Drive clean, clearly named and organized

----------------------------------------

WHAT YOU'LL DO: EXTRA TASKS (approx. 20-30% of your time)

----------------------------------------

Since we're early-stage, everyone wears multiple hats. Depending on your skills and interests, you'll help with:

- Ad research: browsing the Meta Ad Library, TikTok Creative Center and competitor accounts to collect winning ads and note their hooks, angles and formats

- Static ads and graphics in Canva or Photoshop (product images, carousels, banners, simple infographics)

- Shopify support: uploading products and images, creating GIFs and demo loops for product pages, simple page edits

- Briefing and coordinating UGC creators (sending briefs, following up, collecting and checking footage)

- Keeping our creative testing sheet up to date (which ad, which hook, which result)

- Optional, if you want to grow into it: product research, social media posting, email graphics, creative strategy

We'll train you on anything you don't know yet. Willingness to learn matters more to us than ticking every box.

----------------------------------------

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

----------------------------------------

Must-haves:

- At least 1-2 years of experience editing short-form content, ideally performance ads for e-commerce or DTC brands

- A portfolio with short-form ads (TikTok, Reels, Meta ads). Wedding videos, vlogs or corporate films alone are not enough for this role

- A real understanding of hooks and of why the first 3 seconds decide everything

- Strong skills in Premiere Pro, CapCut (desktop), DaVinci Resolve and/or After Effects

- Good written English, because briefs and feedback are in English

- Speed without sloppiness: before delivering, you check spelling, timing, audio levels and platform safe zones yourself

- Proactive mindset: you suggest ideas and improvements instead of waiting for instructions on every step

- Reliable internet, a backup plan for power or internet outages, and a computer that handles 4K footage smoothly

- Available [X] hours per week, with at least [3-4] hours of overlap with Central European Time (CET)

>> DETAIL CHECK: We want people who actually read. Start your application with a 🍎 emoji, followed by one sentence about the last ad that made YOU stop scrolling and why it worked. Applications without this will not be reviewed. <<

Nice-to-haves:

- Experience with AI tools such as ElevenLabs, HeyGen, Higgsfield, Runway, Kling, Midjourney or CapCut's AI features

- Canva and/or Photoshop

- Shopify experience

- Basic motion graphics

- Understanding of ad metrics like hook rate, hold rate, CTR and ROAS (or a real curiosity to learn them)

- Knowledge of translating different European language

----------------------------------------

HOW WE WORK

----------------------------------------

- 100% remote and mostly async

- Communication via [Slack / WhatsApp], files in Google Drive, tasks in [Slack]

- You receive a brief with the angle, script, references and assets. You deliver a first draft, we give feedback, you revise

- Typical volume at the start: 5-10 ad variations per week, growing as we scale

- A short weekly call to review what's working and what's next

- We share ad performance with you so you learn which edits actually sell

----------------------------------------

WHAT WE OFFER

----------------------------------------

- A long-term position. Multiple brands means steady, growing volume

- Pay:, depending on experience

- Every test task is paid

- Direct contact with the owner, with no layers or bureaucracy

- Room to grow: as we scale, there's room for a lead editor or creative strategist role and more responsibility

- performance bonus for ads that become winners

----------------------------------------

HIRING PROCESS

----------------------------------------

1. Send your application (see below)

2. Shortlisted candidates get a paid test task: one ad plus 3 hook variations from raw footage we provide

3. A short video call

4. A trial period of 2-4 weeks, then a long-term collaboration

----------------------------------------

HOW TO APPLY (READ CAREFULLY)

----------------------------------------

We receive many copy-paste applications, so we only review the ones that follow these steps.

1. Follow the instruction we placed earlier in this post. If you missed it, scroll up. That's part of the test.

2. Answer these questions:

   a) Share 2-3 links to short-form ads YOU edited. For each one: was it a full edit or only part of it? Do you know any results (spend, CTR, sales)?

   b) Go to the Meta Ad Library and pick any e-commerce ad you think is performing well. Share the link and write 3 alternative hooks you would test for it (on-screen text plus the opening visual).

   c) Which editing software and AI tools do you use on a daily basis?

   d) Which of the "extra tasks" above have you done before, and which would you like to learn?

   e) How many hours per week are you available, and what's your time zone? Do you currently work for other clients?

   f) What's your expected rate?

Generic applications and AI-generated answers without real substance will be skipped, no matter how good the portfolio looks.

Looking forward to seeing your work!
